Novonesis Sustine® 330 is a laccase that transforms various phenols, anilines, benzenethiols, metal ion complexes and other compounds into their oxidized forms.

Sustine® 330 is already being used in a number of commercial active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and their intermediate processes, such as:

  • Intermediate for Actinomycin, Mitomycin C, Rifamycin, Geldanamycin, Streptonigrin and other anti-cancer drugs (specifically for the synthesis of aminonaphthoquinones)
  • Cephalosporin and its derivatives 
  • Hair bleaching/dyeing products as a substitute for H2O2

Indeed, repeated inhalation of enzyme dust or aerosols resulting from improper handling may induce sensitization and may cause allergic type 1 reactions in sensitized individuals.
