Class: Endopeptidase
Format: Granulate
rTrypsin® Granulate

Novonesis rTrypsin® Granulate (EC 3.4.21.4) is a recombinant product manufactured by microbial fermentation. Like native trypsin from bovine or porcine pancreas, it's suited to a range of biotechnological processes. Unlike native trypsin, rTrypsin® Granulate is animal component-free. That allows it to meet the stringent safety regulations in place for biologicals and biopharmaceuticals.
Product features, details and benefits
- Consistent supplyWe have production facilities on four continents, warehouses all over the world and a flexible and robust distribution network. All this helps us deliver the consistent supply you need.
- Free of animal enzymesrTrypsin® Granulate is manufactured by a recombinant process to ISO 9001:2008 standards. That ensures it's not contaminated with animal enzymes such as chymotrypsin or carboxypeptidase.
- Free of viral and animal-related contaminantsThe manufacturing process for rTrypsin® Granulate is animal origin-free (AOF). That eliminates the risk of viral and animal-related contaminants in the final product.
- Highly temperature stableThe exceptional stability of rTrypsin® Granulate permits easy and convenient storage. It also allows routine handling of the enzyme during cell culture procedures.
- Stability unaffected by Ca2+ ionsThe stability of porcine trypsin is dependent on the level of free Ca2+ ions in the buffer. By contrast, the stability of rTrypsin® Granulate is unaffected by free Ca2+ ions.
- Wide pH rangerTrypsin® Granulate is stable for two hours in a pH range of 5-9 at 37°C.
rTrypsin® Granulate cleaves peptide bonds at the carboxyl side of lysine and arginine as native trypsin. That allows simple substitution of rTrypsin® Granulate for porcine or bovine trypsin. rTrypsin® Granulate is used for a range of biotechnological processes. These include:
- Cell dissociation and propagation of multiple cell lines including stem cells
- Vaccine production and processing
- Dissociation of dissected cells prior to cell fixing and sorting
- Cleavage of proinsulin to yield intact insulin
This product contains enzymes. While enzymes are safe to use in consumer applications, they need correct handling in working environments to ensure workers’ safety.
Indeed, repeated inhalation of enzyme dust or aerosols resulting from improper handling may induce sensitization and may cause allergic type 1 reactions in sensitized individuals.
Please follow the precautionary handling recommendations below:
- Avoid breathing dust/fume/gas/mist/vapors/spray
- Avoid contact with eyes, skin, or clothing
- In case of inadequate ventilation wear respiratory protection
- IF INHALED: Remove person to fresh air and keep comfortable for breathing
- If experiencing respiratory symptoms: Call a POISON CENTER or a doctor
- Store in a dry place. Store in a closed container
- Dispose of contents/containers in accordance with local regulations
