Ester Baiget named among Forbes Sustainability Leaders

COPENHAGEN, Denmark – September 20, 2024. Novonesis CEO Ester Baiget is recognized for her leadership and contribution to accelerating the path to a more sustainable future while managing the merger and establishment of a new company delivering biosolutions that enable companies in many industries to get more from less while significantly reducing the use of fossil-based resources and chemicals.

Ester has recently been appointed as board member of United Nations Global Compact and the Science-Based Target initiative, vice-chair of the B Team and co-chair of the CEO Action Group for the European Green Deal under World Economic Forum.

“I am thankful and proud to be named among the Sustainability Leaders by Forbes with inspirational leaders who contribute driving the world to a more sustainable future. The magnitude and complexity of the climate crisis requires that all leaders and stakeholders across sectors participate and collaborate. As business leaders, we must recognize and embrace our responsibility in creating and ensuring a better future with healthy people on a healthy planet,”

says Ester Baiget, President & CEO.

Sustainable to our core

At Novonesis, sustainability is how we do business, and it's at the core of who we are. Our purpose is to better our world with biology. Biosolutions help our customers produce more, and better, with less. Sustainability is also integral to how we work in our own operations and across our value chain.

When we look at our own environmental footprint, we have more than halved our scope 1+2 emissions since 2018 during a period of solid revenue growth. On our continued path to net zero in 2050, our 2030 targets for reductions in absolute greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are 75% from our operations (scope 1 and 2) and 35% from our supply chain (scope 3).

The race to net zero is one we refuse to lose

Business strategies built on climate action and backed by ambitious decarbonization targets can get us over the finish line faster.

We’re determined to decouple our company’s growth from its carbon footprint. That’s why climate action is an integral part of our business strategy. And why we’ve set a clearly defined and ambitious decarbonization pathway aligned with the Paris Agreement.

Validated by the Science Based Targets initiative, our climate targets aim to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.
