Silage biosolutions

Better silage made simple

With our silage inoculants, we enable farmers to improve silage quality and reduce waste, ensuring the profitability of your farm.

Your challenges are ours, too

Fresh, nutritious silage is key to cattle health and performance. But achieving consistent quality isn’t easy. Weather, crop variability, spoilage and heating can all lead to nutrient losses—compromising  feed value, intake and ultimately, farm profitability.

Silage smart - power fermentation with biology

Unlock more from your forage with silage inoculants. Our microbial biosolutions help preserve nutrients, reduce losses and improve silage stability—so your cattle get consistent, high-quality feed and you get more value from every harvest.

Backed by science and a legacy of Chr. Hansen and Novozymes, Novonesis brings biosolutions, services, tools and partnership to help you farm smarter, unlocking your potential for profit.

The evolution of silage inoculants

Three generations for smarter fermentation - we offer you a full range for every need.

  • 1st generation - fast fermentation

Homofermentative bacteria, like L. plantarum produce lactic acid to quickly drop the pH. This fast acidification helps preserve nutrients and improves silage stability—especially important when conditions are right and dry matter losses need to be controlled.

  • 2nd generation - stability matters

Heterofermentative bacteria, like L. buchneri, produce acetic acid to improve aerobic stability—slowing down spoilage when silage is exposed to air, especially at feed-out.

  • 3rd Generation – OxyCap® technology

Combining the strengths of both approaches—Lactococcus lactis for rapid oxygen removal and lactic acid production, and L. buchneri for acetic acid—we now can create the ideal conditions from day one: fast pH drop, quick fermentation start, early stabilization and long-lasting aerobic stability. It’s smarter fermentation for modern silage challenges.
